Project Synopsis

CTS prepared custom reports for an investment broker dealer company within the Chicago area. When implementing a new management application called B.O.N.U.S., our client recognized that CTS would prove beneficial in developing a diverse collection of about 70 reports using Seagate's Crystal Report Writer. In addition to writing these reports, CTS developed a peripheral Visual Basic application that is used to create commissions statements, facilitate the delivery of these statements through email and fax, and post and archive these reports for both reference and later delivery.

Project Synopsis

CTS designed and developed a complete management reporting system for domestic equity, international equity, fixed-income, municipal bond and money market funds. This system collected holding information from the fund's accounting system and external data feeds in a custom-designed database and then computed fixed income analytics including yields, duration, convexity, and effective maturity. Several reports were defined and constructed to meet the varied needs of each portfolio manager. Each portfolio manager could subscribe to any desired report that could be delivered via direct online access, e-mail or print. This project required CTS to work with portfolio managers, security analysts, and fund accountants to capture their information needs. This resulted in the creation of a well-defined data model and technical processes necessary to populate the database from primary sources and then augment the data with calculated yields and other analytics. A Visual Basic application was constructed allowing users to view their reports any time. Additionally, each night a batch application was constructed to create pre-defined report packages that were printed and delivered to each portfolio manager using an external printing vendor.

Project Synopsis

The Portfolio Optimizer was developed to allow investors and financial advisors the ability to analyze the efficiency of a portfolio of mutual funds relative to stated investment objectives. The optimizer graphs the location of a portfolio against an efficient frontier and provides tools for moving the portfolio towards a point on the efficient frontier that yields maximum returns for a specified level of risk.

Project Synopsis

CTS designed and constructed a database to capture and maintain a single source of information about securities (stocks, funds, bonds and options). Information maintained includes: symbols, descriptions, prices, yields, returns, and categorization. The data contained in the security master is used by multiple systems as they present information about holdings to customers. This information is then applied to a user's investment reports and their view of holdings seen on the client's Internet site.

Project Synopsis

CTS was responsible for managing the deployment of significant enhancements to our client's website. The client had multiple types of accounts that could be utilized by investors. Brokerage accounts, mutual fund accounts, and advisor managed accounts are all maintained on separate vendor provided platforms. In order to access these multiple account types, an investor would need to login in to multiple applications and could not see a consolidated view of their holdings. This project was successful in allowing investors to manage all of their accounts from one website. Additionally, value-added features were introduced such as planning tools, watchlists, and premium research formerly unavailable to the investor. To achieve these results, a scalable architecture was developed that leveraged Java and J2EE. Additionally, BroadVision was used as a personalization engine allowing the client to target content to investors based on their holdings and preferences. This architecture relied upon XML interfaces between application layers from third-party vendors.

Project Synopsis

CTS was responsible for developing a web-based literature fulfillment application for its client. The application provided the client with the ability to send financial investment-based literature to brokers and individual investors through the use of an on-line application. Through the touch of a button, order information is sent from the client's database to the third party vendor responsible for fulfilling the orders. The orders are then sent to the designated recipients. CTS assisted the client in all phases of the project lifecycle: from functional and database design reviews to the development, testing, and implementation of the actual application. CTS also provided additional maintenance and support after the implementation and assisted in the development of post-install enhancements to the application.

Project Synopsis

CTS played a leadership role in the implementation of FundStation for two significant mutual fund companies. FundStation is a product developed by Confluence Technologies that computes returns and yields for mutual funds based on daily prices and distributions. FundStation can then generate custom reports that are distributed to internal and external customers. CTS worked with the multiple business and technical units to define required information needs and technical interface requirements. Daily mutual fund prices and distributions were automatically loaded while e-mail, fax, printer, and file interfaces were completed to allow for the distribution of fund performance information to internal systems such as Internet applications and external vendors such as the NASDAQ and MorningStar.

Project Synopsis

SalesPage is a web-based application developed by SalesPage Technologies, Inc., and is designed for contact management, call tracking, sales reporting, and marketing. The SalesPage system is created in a Rapid Application Development environment, based on the custom requirements expressed by the client. In addition to leading the project through the corporate internal approval process, CTS lead the development of user requirements, business rules, functional specifications, design, infrastructure development, data conversion, and implementation. CTS worked very closely with SalesPage to integrate their web application along with a Sybase repository, and the ECS job scheduling management system in order to process inbound data from transfer agencies, produce outbound literature requests, and manage shareholder and prospect accounts.

Project Synopsis

CTS played a project management role in the implementation of Unitrac for the Retail Servicing, Marketing, and Sales groups for a major mutual funds investment company in Chicago. Unitrac is a client/server application developed by SalesPage Technologies, Inc. (formerly Unitrac Technologies, Inc.), and is designed for contact management, call tracking, sales reporting, and marketing. The Unitrac system is created in a Rapid Application Development environment, based on the custom requirements expressed by the client. CTS lead the development of user requirements, business rules, functional specifications, design, infrastructure development, data conversion, reports development and implementation. CTS worked very closely with Unitrac to integrate their NT application along with a Microsoft SQL Server repository, and the Argent job scheduling management system in order to process inbound data from transfer agencies, produce outbound literature requests, and manage shareholder and prospect accounts. Unitrac was to be a replacement system for an existing legacy system that had a mandatory Y2K sunset. CTS was successful in bringing the Unitrac system into production within this strict timeline, so that the mutual funds retail servicing division could continue to serve shareholder and prospect needs.
